Laneway Festival 2014 - Ended with a bang!

laneway festival singapore 2014

The Laneway Festival closed with a bang with many fans yearning and moaning for more!

Laneway Festival 2014 Singapore was held at The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay featuring Savages, Haim, Kurt Vile, xxyyxx, Frightened Rabbit, Chvrches and James Blake. First time since the first gig in 2010, this year Singaporean bands and artists were included for the first time ever.

Amongst the foreign acts, The Jezabels impressed with their fine blend of ’80s art-rock and contemporary indie-pop with lead singer Hayley Mary’s vocal finesse being a high point, Frightened Rabbit opted to entertain the crowd with more upbeat material, Savages blew our minds with an edgy performance and Haim surprised us all by injecting hard blues-rock into its set displaying a vital urgency that was missing on their recorded material.

Back with their second album, the Australian four-piece band returned to Singapore for the fourth time for the Laneway gig this year. The riveting, albeit short, set scored with the crowd with hits like “Endless Summer”, “Easy to Love” and “Catch Me”.

The Jezabels

Australia

We are super excited to welcome THE JEZABELS back after a well-deserved hiatus. These guys are hardworkers and quiet achievers, racking up gold sales, ARIA Awards and sold out theatres. The Sydney four-piece played over 200 shows internationally last year, selling out headline shows across the US, Canada, UK and Europe and playing some of the best festivals around (Lollapalooza, Pukkelpop, T in the Park and more). The Jezabels will be launching their second album at Laneway with songs that will no doubt be as majestic and compelling as their last.

  • CHVRCHES

    United Kingdom

Fans of intelligent, crystalline pop music have fallen hard for CHVRCHES, the Glaswegian trio led by charismatic frontwoman Lauren Mayberry and flanked by Iain Cook and Martin Doherty. Their brilliant debut The Bones of What You Believe is out now and they’re evidently incapable of producing anything other than whip-smart, hook-laden synth pop (see: singles ‘Recover’, ‘Gun’, ‘The Mother We Share’, 'Lies'). With sell out headline tours in Australia, UK and US, a triumphant, award-winning appearance at SXSW and a string of stadium dates with Depeche Mode, this is CHVRCHES’ moment.

James BlakeThe jazzy, introspective tunes of James Blake ended the night on a subdued yet truly mesmerising note. Lucky Singapore fans got to catch the live performance of the Grammy-nominated star, who serenaded the Laneway audience with over 10 tracks including “I Never Learnt to Share”, “Limit to Your Love” and “Retrograde”.
